Course Details

Today Spanish speakers can be found in many cultures around the world as well as throughout the arts and business communities. Our Spanish programs focus on conversation skills, grammar, vocabulary, group practice and other methodologies that will give students the tools they need to use the language in real-life situations with Spanish speakers from a variety of Latin countries.

Following a university curriculum and equipped with textbooks, we focus on oral, writing, listening and reading exercises. A variety of media learning experience. All study material such as class texts, apps and handouts will be provided to the student electronically.

The program is designed to take students from beginner to advanced levels allowing them to speak fluently in this exciting language. All levels are taught in courses of 10 hours with either 2 hours of class per week or a more intensive option of 3 to 4 hours of class per week.

 

There are five different levels of courses:

Beginner

Beginner-level courses are designed for students who have elementary or no knowledge of the language. In this level the focus is mainly on conversation and the development of a functional vocabulary which will reinforce the basic grammar the student learns.

 

Beginner I
Students will learn some greetings and farewells and how to introduce themselves, how to give and get phone numbers, useful everyday questions and answers and some polite expressions. They will learn vocabulary to describe people and activities and how to make and receive phone calls.

 

Beginner II
Students will learn vocabulary related to planning weekend activities, needs and preferences and states of mind as well as vocabulary related to restaurant menus and ordering meals. They will also learn to talk about the weather, household chores, family relationships and other related topics.

In this level, students will be introduced to the present tense of many verbs and their conjugations. By the end of this level students will have acquired the essential tools for simple professional communication.

 

Intermediate

Intermediate-level courses are aimed towards students who are more familiar with the Spanish language. They know how to express themselves in the Present Tense for many verbs and their conjugations and are familiar with basic past and future tense sentences.

In the curriculum we will include reading and listening comprehension, as well as include interesting and interactive activities providing the student with a well-rounded language study experience.

 

Advanced

The advanced-level courses are geared toward students who have a solid foundation of the Spanish language and can communicate, comprehend and converse with a fair degree of ease in a variety of situations. At the advanced level students will master grammar structures and expand their command of the spoken language.

By the end of the advanced level course, students will have expanded their communication skills to include the use of suggestion, persuasion and negotiation within a business context.
