These classes are performing classes, and tend to dedicate a portion of each class on learning and perfecting their routines. BTJ combo classes are great precursors to continuing a students dance career with JWSD, and are highly recommended for any child 6 and older. Masks are required.
JWSD (short for Joyce Willett School of Dance) is a pair of family owned dance studios that have been led and guided by 3 generations of women in our family, passed from the hands of mother to daughter.
Joyce Willett purchased her dance studio from her employer as a dance instructor in Windsor Park from Shirley McPhail, where her two daughters also took lessons, as a young mother of four with a passion for dance and children's education.
She spread Joyce Willett School of Dance across Austin featuring three different locations when the city was smaller and there was much less competition than there is today.
Jazz relies on the dancers classical ballet training and dance technique. Jazz dance pushes the dancer to connect emotionally and physically to the music. Jazz dance has a huge range of styles: theater and Broadway jazz, classical, modern, lyrical, funk, African, contemporary and more
Jazz dance classes are offered by Dance Center of Florida for all ages and skill level. Dance Center of Florida’s mission is to bring a professional and supportive dance center to Miami offering diverse dance training for both children and adults.
We host workshops, classes, and training intensives across many levels and genres of movement arts, from hip-hop to bellydance, contemporary to contortion, African Dance and Drum, jazz to juggling and more.
This jazz class begins with an extended warm-up focusing on stretching, core strengthening, and upper body strength exercises. You'll go across the floor to fine tune your technique, and will break down the mechanical function of pirouettes, battements and other common dance moves
Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms.
