Students will learn the foundations of tap dancing including beats, rhythm, steps and sequences. Tap is great for improving musicality and understanding of counts, balance, presentation and extends the student’s repertoire of dance styles.
In this class students will work on exercises and will be able sit medal tests.
The Bennett School of Ballet and Jazz has been operating in Dunedin since 1994, teaching dance classes in classical ballet and jazz.
Shona and her teachers not only prepare students for a career in the dance industry but they also more importantly cater for those students who just have a love of dance and wish to attend for fun and to meet new friends.
NZAMD tap syllabus consists of barre work, centre work & dances. It offers the necessary training and progression to become an accomplished tap dancer. Students have the option of sitting exams or medals.
Ages 6 and up. Emphasis on rhythm and musicality.
Tap is a rhythmical form of dance. The dancer uses the sounds produced by their metal tap shoes to strike the floor as a form of percussion.
We follow the NZAMD American Tap syllabus and is suitable for ages 7 and up. Tap is great for rhythmical development consisting of barre work, center work, and set dances.
Early tap classes focus on learning tap technique while having fun finding rthyms in music. Currently we are offering beginners classes for those age 5-8 and age 8+.
