Tap has come a long way over the years and is nothing like the “silver shoes” tapping you may be thinking of! The NZAMD syllabus which DDA teaches is an American style of tap dancing, very much like street tap (which happens to be very suited to boys too!).
As the grades progress, as do the rhythms and it develops into some very cool, complex sounds! Tap is such a special style of dancing – making magical sounds with your feet! Come and catch the tap bug with us!
Once enrolled in a tap class, there are opportunities to be invited into our competition team.

The Chilton Dance Centre Tap training is based on the New Zealand Association of Modern Dance Tap syllabus.
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap.
Tap classes are held on Saturday, the academy follows the BAL (Ballet Australasia Limited) syllabus
Made popular during the 20th Century, this appealing dance style still has its place in the modern world.
At WADPA, we have beginner classes from the age of 4 and students can progress through their exams up to diploma level if they so wish.
