Dancers can develop lifetime friendships and gain confidence all the while learning the art of dance.
Cognitive abilities are also enhanced through this dance style, as tap dancers must develop both mental and muscle memory to become proficient at tapping out rhythms in correct timing.
Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of one's tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. As such, it is also commonly considered to be a form of music. Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm (Jazz) tap and Broadway tap.
Tap is a high energy class that lets your feet feel the beat. This class focuses on rhythm, coordination, and musicality.
As we work through the Imperial Tap dance syllabus (ISTD), students will progress through the grades building a secure tap technique, developing an awareness of tone, understand rhythm, and its development while gaining a sense of performance.
