The movements are very sharp and often quite fast. Plimmerton School of Dance offers a range of Tap classes for students from the age of 4. These classes are; grade classes and adult classes.
Grade classes start from the age of 5. We follow the TDI Syllabus (Theatre Dance International), where students learn set grade work and enter annual examinations.
In this grade work, students learn new tap steps and combinations, which become progressively harder each year.
Plimmerton School of Dance is a dance school helping children develop a love of dance. With a range of dance styles available, children benefit in many ways. They increase their concentration and confidence while having fun.
With small class sizes, attention can be given to each individual allowing students to achieve their potential.
The dancing year follows the Primary School Terms with a full concert at the end of the year. Exams, (which are optional) are held in term three every year from the age five.
The American Tap consists of barre work, centre work, and set or teachers’ own choreographed dances.

This class will introduce the kids to the genre of tap.
Tap has had many different stages in its evolution; from its roots in African American history and into the silver screen years with Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Gene Kelly, to the Tap Dogs and Boot Men of today.
Ages 6 and up. Emphasis on rhythm and musicality.
