The Dance Alliance (TDA) is located in north east London, Ontario. We offer dance classes in a fun and inviting setting for students aged three to adult.TDA provides a safe and comfortable environment where each student has the opportunity to grow and develop as a dancer.
We focus on cultivating strong dance and performance technique in a positive, nurturing, and inspiring atmosphere. The goal of TDA is to ensure that every student and their family have a positive dance experience.
As we work through the Imperial Tap dance syllabus (ISTD), students will progress through the grades building a secure tap technique, developing an awareness of tone, understand rhythm, and its development while gaining a sense of performance.
Classes range from 30 minutes to an hour. ISTD Tap Exam classes are offered as well. Students should wear a bodysuit or fitted shirt and tights, jazz pants or leggings. Tap shoes required.
Students learn traditional tap skills, including steps, combinations and rhythms, as well as the history and theory behind them. In more advanced classes a stomp and hip hop style of tap is explored.
Tap was initially popularized in Hollywood by such great dancers as Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Shirley Temple and more recently, by the hugely popular performers Tap Dogs, Stomp and Riverdance.
This energetic and inspiring class is focused on music theory, the history of tap dance, rhythm and understanding of fundamental tap steps. Tap is a stimulating and engaging class for dancers who love music and rhythm.
