In a calm atmosphere, participants learn contemporary style choreography by developing their flexibility and agility
For dancers aged 8-18, Contemporary dance teaches combinations that incorporate control, balance and flexibility.
Dancers must have a strong background in technical dance such as ballet and jazz as contemporary borrows movements from these formal genres. Modern elements are added to contemporary choreography such as torso contractions, floor work, and improvisation.
This class is a combination of ballet and jazz, utilizing the strength from ballet combined with the expression of jazz to help dancers learn to interpret and express feeling and tell a meaningful story through movement.
This program is for the student who is looking for a program to further develop their training at a higher intensity. Students will be prepared for competitions in the disciplines they are taking. Participation in workshops and clinics are expected to help improve their overall skill.
