Home Cooking New York (HCNY) was founded in May 2002, shortly after founder Jennifer Clair was downsized from her Food Editor position at Martha Stewart Living.
After years of writing cookbooks, recipes, and food editorials, the opportunity to come together with eager culinary students in a kitchen classroom seemed like the next logical step.
Back then, Jennifer was the sole chef-instructor, teaching nightly private cooking classes in students’ home kitchens all over New York City. Over the last 17 years.
The company has grown to include 5 outstanding chef-instructors, all ready to be dispatched into the home kitchens of the (reasonably-distanced) tri-state area.
In (4) four fun filled classes, you will learn about supplies, utensils, proper frosting techniques, borders, simple flowers and roses. You ‘ll be able to take home your creations along with instruction sheets.
Pastry Making class is offered by Kitchen Window. Designed for the home chef, Kitchen Window’s Cooking School offers a variety of cooking classes on everything from the basics to gourmet.
During this class we will take on a delicious Yukon Gold (when in season), Potato Gnocchi and serve them in a tomato, basil and roast garlic sauce. While waiting for our gnocchi to cure we will make a deliciously creamy, Chocolate, Peppermint No Churn Ice Cream.
You can make your kitchen the bakery next door and never purchase store bread again! During this 2 day series, our Pastry Chefs will offer you the foundations you “knead” to know how to transform lean and enriched dough into delicious loaves.
