Learning Outcomes
Persons performing the duties of a flagperson must complete the TCP Level I training course. TCP Level I responsibilities include:
Ensuring traffic is moving safely though temporary situations that limit or change the flow of regular traffic;
Stopping or slowing traffic as needed based on the situation and working conditions;
Ensuring that the motoring public has priority over work related traffic, while ensuring that work is
being completed safely and efficiently;
Assisting with set up and placement of signs under the direction of a TCP Level II; and
Warning workers of any potential dangers.
The primary objective of TCP Level I training is to provide a flagperson with skills and competency to protect themselves, their co-workers and the general public while performing traffic control duties.

The one-day Signaller and Traffic Control Person program is designed to assist those who work as signallers or as traffic control persons understand the relevant legislation, learn the risks associated with their work, and find out how to manage those risks.
This course teaches participants how to develop an effective traffic control plan. Participants learn how to recognize, evaluate and control hazards related to road construction.
Our Workplace Safety Training programs have been developed to ensure the content is aligned with all current regulatory standards for the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA), the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of vehicle traffic hazards, establish effective procedures, and identify control options.
Traffic control is used to regulates the flow of traffic to protect construction workers and the motoring public, stop traffic when necessary, and allow construction to proceed safely and effectively.
