Our History
The San Francisco Baking Institute was founded in 1996 by Michel Suas. A native of France, Michel started baking when he was 14 years old and trained under several renowned chefs before moving to the United States in 1986. Michel opened first the San Francisco Baking Instiute and then Thorough Bread and Pastry. He is also Belinda Leong’s business partner at B. Patisserie.
Expertise
SFBI consultants travel throughout Europe, Asia, Central America and the United States as guides for start-up and growing bakeries. SFBI has consulted with some of the best known names in the bakery business, helping them to produce artisan baked goods of the highest standards and to run their bakeries with quality and efficiency. Internationally, SFBI has helped to bring authentic artisan baking to new communities and built the skills of hundreds of bakers with a strong desire to produce true artisan breads and pastries.

Let’s welcome the winter months by making some yummy holiday-themed doughnuts! You will learn to make and decorate yeast-risen and cake-style doughnuts! Save up your calories because guests will make a batch of each type of doughnut to enjoy in the studio and take home.Â
This method of meal prep and cooking is delicious, nutritious, full of amazing flavors, and easy to put together. The secret ingredient is a delicious yum yum sauce. It makes leftovers to dream about, and you'll riff on it weekly. It's so versatile.
Let's be honest, everything doesn't need to be riddled with flour or squished between two slices of bread. Gluten Free cooking is quite easy. A lot of our classes are inherently Gluten Free or can be easily accommodated.
Make & bring home several different chocolate treats learn to make breakable hearts, chocolate bombs from scratch, also caramel pretzels, dippin strawberries & chocolate covered oreos. 2 hour class. All supplies included.
In this class you will start cake decorating on your first day. Frosting will be provided for practice in every class. You will receive a 2 layer cake on your final day to frost and decorate in class with the techniques you have learned.
