Course Details

Our violin lessons enable students to gain an understanding of melodic and rhythmic notation by putting theory into practice. Lessons will also explore the development of good posture, bowing techniques, vibrato and the production of a clear tone when bowing or plucking the strings.

Further, beginners will explore playing scales, using articulation, phrasing and dynamics as an expressive tool.

  • Inês Ferreira is originally from Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal. Her musical studies were initiated in 2009 at Academia de Música de Vilar do Paraíso, where she studied with Ricardo Camarinha. A few years later, Inês enrolled in Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree under the supervision of violinist Anibal Lima, earning a distinction. Inês is currently taking up a Master’s degree in Violin Performance & Music Education at the Royal Northern College of Music. Her performance experiences include having worked with conductors such as Cesário Costa, Douglas Bostock, Dinis Sousa, Jean-Marc Burfin, Adrian Leaper, Pedro Neves and others as well as having played with orchestras such as Orquestra Académica Metropolitana, Orquestra Sinfónica Metropolitana and the RNCM Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. She has also undertaken various masterclasses led by virtuoso violinists such as Victor Vieira, Marta Eufrázio, Evandra Gonçalves, Nuno Soares, Augusto Trindade, Ana Pereira, Paul Wakabayashi, James Clark, Catherine Yates and others.
