Composers use stringed instruments in so many different ways, so you always have a big variety of things to play. You can play any of the stringed instruments in many different types of ensembles. Imagine playing in a big symphony orchestra, or in a string quartet at a wedding, or in a rock band...the possibilities are endless.
All you have to do is watch any 2 videos on YouTube featuring a violin, viola, cello or bass to see how cool they are.
By fostering a diversity of music programmes, we are able to encourage students to consider pathways that reflect their individuality and will provide them with a range of musical opportunities that could lead to a lifelong involvement in music.

Interactive violin lessons, proudly located in Wellington. Learn from our expert tutors with personalised lessons to suit your skill level.
Learning to play this instrument takes a certain level of maturity and development. That’s why we recommend children start one-on-one lessons from the age of 7-and-a-half onwards.
We provide group lessons to children 5-12 years of age and private tuition for the advancing student 13 years and older.
Students gain a good understanding of posture, technique and note-reading on the violin, and can progress to a moderately advanced level both individually and as part of a group.
At Ignite Arts Academy, we can now offer students violin (or viola; a slightly larger violin) lessons with our new instructor Anne Speed. Anne will guide students with her fun and flexible approach, tailoring lessons to suit each individual’s, or groups, abilities.
