Course Details

Students in our Violin School study violin in group lessons for five levels. All our violin students participate in one of our three string groups or three orchestras appropriate to their level.

 

Level 1:

  • for students 7-9 years of age
  • $410 yearly subscription
  • Students attend a violin class on Saturday at 8.45am, 9.30am, 10.35am or 11.20am
  • Students also attend Tuesday String Group class at 4.15pm
  • All classes are 45 minutes in duration

 

Level 2:

  • $410 yearly subscription
  • Students attend a violin class on Saturday morning
  • Students also attend Tuesday String Group class at 5.00pm
  • All classes are 45 minutes in duration

 

Level 3:

  • $480 yearly subscription
  • Students attend a violin class on Saturday morning
  • Students also attend Tuesday String Group class at 5.45pm
  • All classes are 45 minutes in duration

 

Level 4-5:

  • At level four and five, students join our Junior Strings Orchestra on Saturday mornings 8.45am to 9.30am.
  • After Level 5 students move on to individual tuition.
  • All individual students join our Symphony Orchestra or Howick Youth Orchestra depending upon their level.

  • The Howick School of Music offers lessons for:  Violin, Piano, Cello, Viola, Double Bass, Harp, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon,  Trumpet, Trombone, Horn, Guitar, Drum-kit, Recorder and Music for 5-6 year olds. The Howick School of Music offers lessons to the wider community of Howick, Bucklands Beach, Pakuranga, Botany Downs, East Tamaki and nearby suburbs. We provide group lessons to children 5-12 years of age and private tuition for the advancing student 13 years and older. The Howick School of Music is home to the Howick Youth Orchestra and HSM Concert Band as well as providing orchestral and band opportunities for younger players.
