Diller-Quaile offers a program of woodwind and brass study for the early beginner through the advanced high school student. Woodwind study is available for flute (age six and older), oboe (age nine and older), clarinet (age six and older), bassoon (age ten and older), recorder (age five and older) and saxophone (age nine and older). Brass study is available for trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba for students age nine and older.
The typical program for a beginning student includes a 30-minute Individual Lesson and a Musicianship Class. Older students take lessons of 45 minutes to an hour in length and participate in Repertoire Class, Chamber Music, and Orchestra as they advance.
The idea for The Diller-Quaile School of Music began to take shape in 1899 through the early 1900s at the Third Street Music School Settlement, where Angela Diller was head of the Theory Department and Elizabeth Quaile became head of the Piano Department in 1911.
The two women worked together at Third Street, and then followed David Mannes in 1916 to help him establish his own school, as well as join the Mannes faculty. In 1920, Angela Diller and Elizabeth Quaile founded The Diller-Quaile School of Music.
Since they believed that the capacity for understanding and creating music exists in everyone, it was essential that their music school provide a dynamic and well-rounded experience not just for select students, but for all.
Clarinet Lessons are offered by Tone Academy of Music
Clarinet lessons are offered by ViBO Music Schools. ViBO believes in community – music creates communities, and people connect through music. We periodically host open-mics and jam sessions to bring in local musicians.
The clarinet and saxophone instructors at Northside Music Academy will create a personalized program based on each student’s developmental stage, personal characteristics, and goals
We recommend that most clarinet students begin lessons at 5 or older. The clarinet is the typically the easiest of the woodwinds instruments to begin on, because it requires less lung capacity to produce a clean tone than the other woodwinds instruments
Clarinet music class is offered by The Arts Center for All.We have this training for all our students after they are able to read music without hesitation. These abilities develop your eyes, ears, and brain fully with good balance.
