The Woodwork course is designed for both beginners and individuals looking to improve their woodworking skills. This art-focused course will introduce you to the tools and machinery used in a wood workshop, and you will learn various techniques such as joints, marquetry, cutting, and drilling.
Through a series of smaller projects, such as a tik tac toe board, a set of veneer coasters, and a small tool box, you will practice and master these techniques.
Additionally, the course culminates in a larger project where you will have the opportunity to create a finished piece, such as a jewelry box or a bird box. This course provides a hands-on learning experience, allowing you to develop your woodworking skills and produce beautiful and functional wooden creations.
During the course, you will receive comprehensive instruction on woodworking techniques and the proper use of tools and machinery in a wood workshop. Under the guidance of experienced tutors, you will have the opportunity to practice and refine your skills through hands-on projects.

You will complete a minimum of 30 hours of on-the-job experience within the industry and have the opportunity to work on many live projects in the community.

Carpenters work with wood on building sites or in customers’ homes to fit or repair doors, window frames, staircases, floorboards, cupboards, roof trusses and partitions.
At this level, no prior knowledge or skills in furniture making is assumed. Students are taken from the basic understanding of tools and materials through to the making of a furniture project.
This one-day course will cover the basics of tools and techniques of wood turning, and you’ll go home the proud owner of a simple hand-turned item at the end of the day. For example, you might want to create a garden dibber or a fruit bowl.
