The BWRP workshop is always a hub of activity. Our staff strive to teach our volunteers the skills they need to create and build furniture from reclaimed timber, as well as giving them the confidence to start projects of their own.

The work they do often involves a lot of planning and even some problem solving to work around the extra character and nature of reclaimed timber. We feel very lucky to be able to provide this safe and inclusive environment for our volunteers. Your continued custom is what enables us to keep this program going so we thank you!
For 18 years, Bristol Wood Recycling Project has thrived on otherwise unusable land and resources. Our self-financing model, in which waste wood is diverted from landfill for sale and reuse, was pioneered by the national Community Wood Recycling Project based in Brighton.
With their guidance we have grown from a shoestring operation of two staff to currently employing eleven people and regularly engaging around forty volunteers. Since 2004 our collections team have saved over six thousand tons of wood from decaying in landfill, in turn providing Bristol's trade, domestic, creative and alternative communities a fantastic resource of affordable, salvaged timber.
This one-day course will cover the basics of tools and techniques of wood turning, and you’ll go home the proud owner of a simple hand-turned item at the end of the day. For example, you might want to create a garden dibber or a fruit bowl.
Our aim at South London Makerspace is to get our members designing and making projects as soon and as safely as possible
