Here you can make anything from beginner’s kits to sculpture or furniture – and you can grow your creative business with affordable studio space, the support of industry expertise and a community of makers.
We offer courses, bookable workbenches and supported sessions, led by expert technicians, to help you get started, and our local creative programmes explore new ways to discover making. At this level, no prior knowledge or skills in furniture making is assumed. Students are taken from the basic understanding of tools and materials through to the making of a furniture project.
You are considering a career in carpentry or joinery and want to learn the key skills to set you up for employment in the construction industry. This Level 1 Diploma in Site Carpentry contains a mixture of theory-based and practical skills.

The Builder Training Centre (The BTC) offers high quality structured Carpentry Courses, which can be attended as a 5 day course during the week (Monday to Friday) or, for those that have commitments during the week, a weekend course (2 consecutive weekends).
