You will develop basic woodworking skills and techniques using essential woodworking tools. If you are just beginning to discover woodworking or want to improve on your skills to undertake more woodworking projects this is the course for you.
This hands-on course covers general workshop health & safety, learning how to measure and mark accurately as well as how to use a variety of hand tools including saws, chisels and planes. You will also learn how to use a variety of power tools including a mitre saw, band saw, router and mortiser, while making a product that you will cherish for years to come.
An intensive 2-day course designed to give you the foundation you need to undertake many other projects.
Mark will go at your pace, he will give advice, help and encouragement where needed whether that be a little or a lot.
All materials and lunch will be provided on the days. If you have special dietary requirements please let us know ahead of the day.
Please wear sturdy shoes/boots and suitable clothes preferably layered with no loose or hanging fabrics, drawstrings etc.
Mark spent the best part of 40 years in the construction industry, firstly as a carpenter joiner and then moving through the construction management levels to founding & managing his own successful design & build company.
Throughout he has managed to maintain his creative passion by making furniture and sculpting in his spare time. After setting up a workshop at home Mark decided to pass on his skills/knowledge.
This is a level 1 programme that will prepare you for re-engagement into education. It will develop basic practical skills in preparation for progression onto a level 2 course, recognised within the industry.
You will learn about basic issues relating to construction including working safely, communication skills and building methods and construction technology to enable you to progress to further training or employment.
Carpentry course is offered by Women’s Tec. We are proud to be the largest training provider for women in these skills in Northern Ireland, and we are even prouder to be at the core of our community of women.
On completion of your Level 2 qualification, pathways will include a route into a professional construction course or an apprenticeship. Painting and decorating is the perfect foundation to an apprenticeship.
