This 1 day course will teach students how to make a 3 legged solid timber, wedged tenon stool. The course combines hand and power tools. The stool will be made in solid beech and birch ply, with walnut wedges. You’ll complete the project within the course, and it will be yours to take home.
This course is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. All materials and tools will be provided for your use while on the course.
As well as running the school, Emma has her own practice as a designer and maker at www.emmaleslie.co.uk. She studied Fine Woodwork at the Building Crafts college where she was awarded a medal of excellence from City and Guilds.
She has since been awarded the annual Livery Company Prize from the Carpenters Company, is a national winner of the Carpenters Craft Competition and winner of the Wood Awards' Peoples Prize.
Emma has previously taught furniture making at the Building Crafts College and London Metropolitan University and as well as running workshops at The Design Museum and The Institute of Making.
Over the course of a long weekend (Friday – Monday), students receive a good grounding in the basics of woodwork. Â
This elemental two day beginners' course is intended for those new to woodworking or with limited experience.
This course is a great introduction to woodworking. The course is for one day, and you will be using hand and power tools to make this box in solid oak and contrasting top. During the day you will learn cutting, planing, and machining techniques.
