Our aim at South London Makerspace is to get our members designing and making projects as soon and as safely as possible
To further this we are rolling out a series of new woodwork courses from January 2022 – these high-quality courses are offered at an extremely competitive rate for SLMS members.
South London Makerspace is a social community workshop in the heart of Herne Hill. It’s owned, run and maintained by the members; there are no paid staff so everything is done on a volunteer basis. We’re not just a workshop; we’re also a community.
This 1 day course will teach students how to make a 3 legged solid timber, wedged tenon stool. The course combines hand and power tools.
Level 1 introduces the learner to carpentry and joinery skills. It allows students to learn, develop and practise their practical ability and construction knowledge with a mixture of theory and practical sessions which develops the learner at their own pace.
On this Intro to Power Tools session, you will learn how to use a variety of different hand-held power tools that are commonly used at home for woodworking projects, such as screwdrivers, impact drivers and jigsaws.
This course is ideal for those wishing to build on their Japanese woodcut skills. The technique is entirely non-toxic using watercolour pigments and not oil based inks to make nuanced prints. It also requires no press so it is easy to set up at home.
All our courses are about furniture. Our core subjects are upholstery, cabinet making and furniture restoration. All demand some flair – which we know you have!
