Learners accredited with this unit standard will be able to conduct basic rigging practices in accordance with legislative safety standards and job requirements. This includes the inspection, selection and use of slings and lifting tackle to safely lift, move and stack loads.

The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the field of manufacturing and engineering.

Learners wishing to acquire the competencies in this standard will be, people working at height where there is a risk of injury from a fall. Learners will be involved in performing tasks at height.

The qualifying learner will be able to demonstrate knowledge of civil construction plant, equipment, and activities, describe quality assurance of civil construction activities and describe effects of adverse weather on construction environments and activities.

Demonstrating an integrated practical and theoretical grounding in Crane Operations according to safe handling and maintenance practices in compliance with crane manufacturer’s and legislated standards.
