Locally known as beca (or becyhia in Hokkien), they used to play a major role in the lives of Penangites until 1990’s. In 1970s, our ancestors began trading cocoa beans. Small batches were transported using beca in sacks to the port.
We named our company Georgetown Herittage Chocolate to honor our ancestors and the ancient cultures and to connect modern chocolate lovers with its long history in Malaysia. And as an Georgetown based company, we just couldn’t pass up the Georgetown in the name!
Georgetown Herittage Chocolate was found in 2016 with a vision of bringing locally sourced cocoa and mix blends cocoa with a touch of local taste to the world.
Learn the basic technique of preparing and designing the chocolate. You will be using 3 different types of chocolate. All chocolates prepared will be taken home.
