Born and raised in New Orleans, the first born of eleven children. "I made my first dress in the seventh grade. We had a sewing household, with five sewing machines at the time of my marriage." With the birth of two daughters, sewing became even more important.
This is an afternoon class for the child ten and up. The student will learn how to operate a sewing machine, read a pattern and construct simple garments. Students progress at their own speed and proudly wear home their creations.
This class is for the student who has never sewn, has minimal skills or needs a good refresher. Students learn how to thread a sewing machine, choose a size, cut out a pattern, follow instructions and create a wrap skirt or elastic waisted pencil skirt / causal pants for men.
Have fitting issues? Need patterns interpreted? Looking for creative ideas or a Valentino look? You pick the project (subject to instructor approval) and we work together to take your garments to the next level with details that add the "wow" factor to your sewing.
