This accounting short course organized by New Zealand Institute of Skills development (NZISD) is designed to help you easily develop the skills and knowledge of Accounting and Taxation that you can apply in corporate and small scale business establishments.

Gain new skills for home and work in this hands-on course covering the basic requirements in setting up accounts.

Core accounting skills are important for a successful business people. How to read a spreadsheet, understanding essential accounting terms, knowing what’s important and what’s not so important.

Students will learn to create business documents such as reports and spreadsheets, and gain an understanding of MYOB software. At the end of the semester students will have the opportunity to put their learning into practice through work experience in a local business.

The purpose of this qualification is to provide New Zealand business entities with people who can carry out a broad range of accounting support services, or for those who currently work in accounting support roles in business entities.

This course will have broad appeal, including appeal to people who may not have an undergraduate degree but have significant industry experience. An undergraduate degree is not necessary if participants have significant work experience (this does not need to be in finance).

IFRS professional development opportunities are relevant to those who use, prepare or interpret financial statements.

The CA Program consists of nine subjects (seven core and two electives), in conjunction with three years of Mentored Practical Experience.
