Acro Dance is an art form that incorporates the fluid movements of dance with the exciting tricks of acrobatics. It is gymnastics for dancers! Students develop specific strength, flexibility, and technique to learn how to execute acrobatic tricks to be used in dance choreography.
Dancers are challenged by combining acrobatics skills with dance steps. We blend tricks, balance, flexibility, tumbling and dance technique. Most importantly, it is all done in a fun and artistic way. We recommend dancers take jazz or have jazz experience.
We are inspired by the beautiful professional dance performances of Cirque du Soleil and want to harness that joyful movement in our Acro classes! Â
Students learn Acrobatic tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, chest stands, elbow stands, walkovers, side and front aerials and tumbling. Trick movements are usually executed slowly to emphasize gracefulness, body lines and picturesque extension.
