Bachata, originating from the Dominican Republic, is a music and dance style with 4 beats per measure.
The basic step, is comprised of 3-steps in one direction and a pause on the 4th beat, which can be marked by a tap of the foot, or other styling choices. And then you just repeat - back to the other side!
Since its introduction to the global dance scene in the early 1990s, Bachata has evolved dramatically in style and popularity.
Today, there are several distinct styles of Bachata, from “Traditional” and “Sensual,” to fusions with other dances like Angolan Kizomba & Brazilian Zouk.
