Students are not subject to the pressure of grading or examinations. They are allowed to develop a love of classical ballet on their own terms. They develop discipline and poise through the rigor of the class and not through negative criticism. The classes are designed to support their training as contemporary dancers.
Sydney's most innovative contemporary dance school--where collaboration and creativity are valued over competition. Seet Dance began in 2009. It is a unique educational and artistic dance program created and directed by Charmaine Seet.
Charmaine Seet teaches contemporary dance and ballet with an innovative approach developed during her professional career in London and New York. Students gain confidence, grace and coordination through supportive and creative dance lessons that are always fresh and physically energetic.
Ballet (also called ‘Classical’) is the cherished basis for professional dance, having evolved over several centuries to become a highly graceful dance art form.
We do offer Ballet classes associated with the Royal Academy of Dance at our Tuggerah and Long Jetty HQ Studios. Students will be taught the syllabus and be encouraged to sit exams once a year.
I am thrilled to announce that Dancemakers will be adopting the Cecchetti method from 2021. We have provided our extension students with Cecchetti training for the last two years and have been delighted with both their development of technique and artistry.Â
Dance is an artform underpinned by form and technique and it can be helpful to work on specific aspects of this to improve a dancer’s overall ability.
Students participating in ballet classes will also have the opportunity to sit examinations which can lead to dance teaching qualifications in later years.
