We teach a syllabus devised by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). This work is carefully graded to suit children to develop ballet skills slowly & carefully while encouraging enthusiasm and freedom of dance.
Our age levels are designed to fit with NZ school year age groups. Students in Year 1 (turning 5 before Term 3 as a general rule) are in Ballet Pre-Primary (Junior 1) level. This is a 30 minute lesson.

Choose from convenient weekday, Saturday or Sunday classes, at one of our three dance studio locations in the Wellington area – Thorndon, Seatoun, and Khandallah.
Your dancer will make new friends in our Wellington Dance preschool, junior, grades or senior schools. As they progress through their own special dance journey, our team will suggest inspiring ways for them to develop their confidence and skills, such as performing on stage, team-building social events, trying new styles of dance or joining a dance team.
Our dream is for every student to experience performing a beautiful graduation solo to mark their achievement at the end of their school years!
From five years old the Graded Syllabus is taught – Beginner Ballet/ Pre-Primary through to Grade Five.
We offer classes from Pre Grade to Advanced following the NZAMD Ballet syllabus.
This is a one-hour open ballet class with a barre, centre practice and allegro.
Children and students attending classes at WADPA can be confident to achieve a comprehensive, well-structured, and relevant ballet education. We teach according to safe teaching principles and evaluate our students through progressively built examinations.
Our Young Adult classes mix up styles each week for people who wish to continue their Love of Dance beyond their high school training in a fun and relaxed way
