It may also provide a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops; and institutions such as aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons, and schools.
This course provides skills and knowledge in hygiene, basic cookery and kitchen organisation. You will develop your abilities in time management, multi-tasking and communication in a fast-paced environment as well as developing an understanding in the importance of hygiene awareness.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use personal hygiene practices to prevent contamination of food that might cause food-borne illnesses. It requires the ability to follow predetermined organisational procedures and to identify and control food hazards.
Food safety programs and training include I’m Alert and FoodSafe. Food Safe involves the training of all staff and a number of record keeping requirements whereas I’m Alert comprises an interactive online training module for staff.
