Time is the greatest gift you can give your child so we love that parents stay to watch their children thrive, grow and share their Budo Journey. They clearly love it too.
We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for participation. Every child develops differently, sometimes they have tough and tiring days just like us and some take a little more time to adjust.
Be assured your child is making progress. Help create a positive atmosphere. Trust the guidance your child is receiving. This will support their love of karate, their Budo journey and their desire to attend.
The word Karate, pronounced Ka-ra-te, is a form of fighting born out of a need to defend and protect oneself. Karate is a combination of two Japanese characters: kara, meaning empty, and te, meaning hand; thus karate means “empty hand.”
Like most martial arts, Karate has been defined as a weapon-less means of defence with a goal to teach you how to fight. Adding the suffix “-do”, meaning “way,” i.e., karate-do, implies karate as a total way of life that goes well beyond the self-defense applications taught in most martial arts schools.
The physical methods of karate teach a student how to become a more efficient and effective fighter, allowing them to better defend themselves. It develops and conditions the whole body by turning every part of it into a weapon.
Okinawan Kobud? is a Japanese term that can be translated as "old martial way of Okinawa". Kobudo refers to the weapon systems of Okinawan martial arts.
Our Kobudo Program is separate to our Karate Classes, but further develops student’s knowledge of a wide range of Traditional Japanese Martial Arts and Okinawan Ryukyu Kobudo. There are a variety of weapons offered, including; Nunchaku, Sai, Bo and Jo.
