Wellington Music Centre is excited to bring music tuition back to Wellington!

The Wellington Music Centre is a Ministry of Education funded out-of-hours music school aimed for students aged 5-12 years old and offers tuition in 15 different instruments from beginner to advanced levels.

All lessons are held in groups and our tutors and relievers are all police-vetted, established music teachers and professional musicians in the Greater Wellington Region.


We aim to meet the musical needs of all the children including those with special needs. The Wellington Music Centre has been running for over 30 years in various venues,

Miramar North School has a wonderful team across the staff, principal and school board who are passionate about music 
and very supportive in bringing music into the Wellington community.

  • Alex Trask is a saxophonist and clarinettist based in Wellington. His notable recent performances include the 58th National Jazz Festival and with the Wellington Youth Orchestra. Alex is currently studying at the New Zealand School of Music and is involved in a range of university and community ensembles such as big bands and symphonic bands. Alex previously taught clarinet at Wellington Music Centre at Island Bay School, working with students at a broad range of ages and levels.
