Advanced students over age 10 may be invited to study the newest genre embraced by formally trained dancers. Core work fall and recovery, expressive musicality, speed changes, effort/shape work, creativity, versatility in embodying different choreographic styles.

Core work fall and recovery, expressive musicality, speed changes, effort/shape work, creativity, versatility in embodying different choreographic styles and the performers’ stage style are emphasized in this technique class.
Because Contemporary borrows from Ballet, Modern, and Jazz technique, each contemporary student should take a minimum of 2 weekly technique classes to participate in this class. Students will perform one routine in the Spring Concert.
Solid color leotard, tan, or pink tights, black shorts, skirt, or jazz capri pants may be worn over leotard and tights. Revolution brand canvas half-sole lyrical shoes. Boys will wear black sweatpants or tights, a solid white t-shirt (no graphics), and black ballet shoes.
Beginners learn from highly trained professionals in a comfortable and kind setting. Experienced dancers are challenged to strengthen their skills and continue to grow and learn in an inclusive environment.
Students will focus on contractions, spirals, basic floor work, and elemental concepts of space, time and force. They will also build core strength and flexibility in a fun and encouraging environment.

Come feel the feels. Each class will begin with a dedicated warm up and stretch, with a new combo each week. Expect contemporary movement ranging from slinky spines, to quirky intricacies, and maybe a ballet-infused gesture or two.
Contemporary Floor Work begins and ends on the floor. This class starts with a warm-up on the ground consisting of basic techniques like head-tail connection and spinal initiation. Class will develop into a series of rolling floor combinations to warm up the spine and hip flexors.
This class begins with a full body warm-up, moves into technique building across the floor exercises and ends with a new combination each week.
