Students study a variety of contemporary methods and techniques. They also have the opportunity to discover and explore self choreography throughout the year
Expressions Ballet Academy was established in 2009 under the direction of Emma Madden. The school offers classes in classical ballet, stretch and strengthen, contemporary, jazz and acrobatics for students aged 2 years to adult. Expressions Ballet Academy aims to foster a love of dance in a caring, nurturing and fun environment, whilst providing students with a high level of technical training.
Students have the opportunity to undertake examinations in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and participate in an end of year performance as well as other performance opportunities throughout the year.
Emma Madden has many years experience in a range of dance fields. She has undertaken examinations in both the Royal Academy of Dance and Australian Ballet School syllabi. Emma understands the importance of teaching dance in a fun environment where everyone feels comfortable and inspired to learn.
This class aims to encourage individual style and develop efficient and easy ways of moving. Movement sequences including rolling, falling, jumping and travelling are explored with a focus on safe dance practice and expression.
For students in years 7 & 8, Wednesday afternoon is classical extension classes during normal school sport time. Older students can attend classes on Monday and a full day on Wednesday for a Certificate 3 & 4 in Dance, Certificate 3 in Assistant Dance Teaching.
Bluerhythmix is now offering Contemporary classes following the ATOD syllabus from the age of 8 and above.
We also offer Contemporary and Lyrical classes. Most of our junior ballet students choose to do the Contemporary / Lyrical class and our major students have Contemporary included in the full Ballet course. The students have performed some beautiful numbers in our end of year concert.
Contemporary is a great way to support children’s development in other genres of dance as well. Contemporary dance uses the body’s natural lines and energy to create new movements, which have a greater range and fluidity than conventional dance.
