This form of dance often shares emotive storylines, encouraging students to express themselves through movements. While it is less ‘rigid’ than ballet, contemporary still requires students to build a strong technical foundation.
Located within the Darwin region, Royal Existence is a comprehensive dance facility. We have 7 styles on offer for students from ages 18months to 18years. We have 3 studio spaces and a spacious waiting area.
To ensure classes are suitable for those who attend, we offer a range of options across styles, age groups and abilities. We enjoy keeping our classes small, allowing a maximum of 15 students in one class, which allows our instructor to provide more personalised training, help them set & achieve goals and build strong relationships. Whether you are aiming for a professional career, looking to stay fit or finally ready to give dance a try, we have a class for you.
The teachers at Royal Existence have a vast range of experience across disciplines. Our collective approach is to share our passion for dance while being supportive and encouraging.
Contemporary dance is an expressive form of dance combing elements of lyrical, jazz and classical ballet. Classes teach students technique and choreography focusing on grounding, expression of emotion, individuality and freedom. Students learn how to communicate through movement.
Our Contemporary Dance Class focusses on the strength and control of the dancers legwork, utilising the technique taught in ballet and engaging the core.
Contemporary dance is a free-flowing style of dance that takes many forms. Explore the movement potential of your body with a warm up, stretches, technique exercises such as contraction and release, basic Ballet barre work, floor work and choreography.Â
It fuses modern dance, jazz and ballet. It often requires excellent technique to perform, as the moves can be difficult and precise.
Learn basic to intermediate contemporary dance techniques including body placements and positions, transfer of weight, using the floor, and improvisation in this 5-week introductory course.
