Contemporary / Lyrical dance is a creative style of expressive dance which combines elements of several dance styles including Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, and Ballet
In this style, dancers focus on strong technique, natural movement, and emotional expression. These classes promote muscle tone, coordination, body awareness, and inner creativity.
A grab bag of elements such as lyrical, ballet, martial arts, hip-hop, and everyday pedestrian movement then gets mixed in, creating a new style with a “contemporary” feel. Contemporary dance provokes, expresses, and reflects through movement the point of view of the dancer and/or choreographer...
Classes range from 45 minutes to 90 minutes. ISTD Modern Exam classes are offered as well.
In the Junior division, with an emphasis on musical coordination & creativity, spacial & eurythmic concepts are explored. The Intermediate & Senior divisions curriculum consists of Graham, Limon, & Cunningham techniques.
