Formally known as Hawthorn Studio of Dance. Established in 1991, The Dance Studio Academy of Performing Arts, has been providing expert dance tuition for over 25 years. Offering classes in many styles and for all age groups, The Dance Studio aims to create fun and enjoyable classes whilst maintaining a high quality of dance tuition. We offer RAD Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Baby-Toes Ballet classes for students 2 years and up.
For students in years 7 & 8, Wednesday afternoon is classical extension classes during normal school sport time. Older students can attend classes on Monday and a full day on Wednesday for a Certificate 3 & 4 in Dance, Certificate 3 in Assistant Dance Teaching.
Modern is less rigid to other ballet styles and experiments with shape, balance & dynamics. This class is a combination of expressive, lyrical and contemporary dance. Suitable and enjoyable for all ages.
In class students will warm up with stretches and strengthening exercises before moving onto dance choreography.
The Next Step Performing Arts prides itself on delivering performing arts training at the highest level. Our students will be pleased to know that’s no different for our contemporary dance classes.
This style is similar to ballet but less strict and more open to interpretation. The students will still learn techniques and dance to slower modern music.
