Silvana’s Dessert Academy is a professionally run dessert and baking school where your child can join other students in a fun and creative professional environment, while learning lifelong kitchen skills.
The Academy is run by pastry chef and dessert caterer Silvana Junge, who prides herself in using only fresh, local, and mostly organic ingredients in both her classes, and her confections.
The Pastry Arts associate’s degree from Walnut Hill College teaches both the basics and specialized skills that you need to start a career as a pastry chef.Â
In our French croissant baking class, chef Jenna will go over the necessary ingredients to create the perfect classic croissants, how to select quality ingredients, how to work and shape the dough, how to properly laminate it with butter and go over proper proofing and natural fermentation methods.
Utilizing a combination of chef taught process and technique, everyone can bake the perfect loaf! Through a combination of hands-on learning and chef demonstration, in the breads, bagel & buns workshop you will be learning to prepare bagels, potato & carraway rolls and rose rolls.Â
Who doesn't love a sweet, soft and cinnamon roll or sticky bun? You will learn about making sweet roll dough and then how to use this one master dough to make cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. Learn about yeast and how to use it, as well as proper proofing and baking techniques!
