Under the new Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) (Fire Safety, Evacuation Procedures and Evacuation Schemes) Regulations 2018, building owners must ensure an adequate evacuation procedure is in place.

Participants will often attend this training following completion of a practical fire extinguisher course. These courses are both half a day, and are usually scheduled on the same day, one following the other.
Fire and Safety Training also train Industrial Rescue squads for industry, including Fonterra, Silver Fern Farms and the Alliance Group.

Courses
Courses include working at height training, confined spaces and gas detection, hazard identification, rescue team training, dangerous goods license endorsement, breathing apparatus, fire extinguisher and evacuation warden training, handling hazardous substances and health and safety representative courses.

Our trainers are all from industry backgrounds with extensive experience. Courses are lively: our trainers engage course participants with a blend of the required theory and hands-on realistic practical experience.

The course is designed to give your staff an understanding of the risks associated with workplace fires, while giving them the ability to assess whether to evacuate or fight the fire. All participants use at least one fire extinguisher on a fire provided by our specifically designed safety trailer.
Our Fire Safety Training course covers crucial Fire Safety and Suppression techniques for when a fire occurs and the different fire extinguishers and what types of fire they are used for; along with Fire Warden & Emergency Procedures for when a fire or emergency occurs.
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of evacuation requirements for a particular workplace or site, and explain the duties of a Fire and Emergency Warden.
You may have fire fighting equipment installed at work but it’s a well known fact that most people have never used an extinguisher. When a small fire breaks out, time is critical.
This course will give you a knowledge and understanding of the duties of a Fire and Emergency Warden in accordance with the law, as well as the practical skills to effectively evacuate the workplace in event of a fire or emergency.
