All courses include FREE access to all general social dance nights to enable practice of what has been taught. [Please note that the Gold A and B courses are separate courses incorporating different syllabus and different dance styles. The Gold ‘A’ and ‘B’ Courses alternate each course block and may be done in either order]
Gilkisons is a new age environment of social dance with a twist on the old fashion stigma that was dancing for years,using modern music,lighting and sound,with a fully licensed bar and air conditioned premises.
The name GILKISONS has been synonymous with the dancing scene since 1931. Many innovations were pioneered by GILKISONS such as teaching at high school and primary school level, television teaching and presentations, learning to dance socially without having to do exams or medals, producing the Festival of Perth championships and other international dancing events at the Entertainment Centre.
Samba de Gafieira is a fun and playful partner dance to the Brazilian samba musical rhythms. It is different from and must not be confused with the ballroom Samba, danced in International Latin and American Rhythm ballroom dance style.
Latin dance classes are offered by MarShere Dance Studios. Latin Rhythm dances are commonly danced to contemporary Latin American music, and with the exception of a few travelling dances.
It's not just the adults who get to have fun with latin dancing, we have some great opportunities for kids to dance as well no the whole family can dance together!
If the music reminds you of a Rio Carnival with lots of percussion, strings and some wind instruments (and is 2/4 timing) you are ready to Samba, Brazilian style.
Suitable for students that have no dance experience. This is a solo class introducing you firstly to the history and origin of Samba. Class focus is on learning the fundamentals. A break-down of the basic step, timing and isolating different parts of the body.
