Spend a wonderful day having your own private gourmet experience at The Akaroa Cooking School.These classes are tailor made to suit your tastes so you choose whether you would like to cook seafood, high end dinner party food, Italian, French, Asian or whichever cuisine you would like to learn.
Classes run over four hours and showcase all of the amazing produce Akaroa and Banks Peninsula has on offer. Seafood comes directly from the fisherman on the wharf opposite the cooking school, beef, lamb, venison and pork from the local butcher most of which is farmed on the Peninsula or in nearby Canterbury.
Fresh vegetables, ripe fruit, nuts and olive oil predominantly come directly from the cooking school gardens.
This is a totally exclusive day where your small group will spend the day with the owners of the world renowned Akaroa Cooking School and be immersed in the wonderful food and history of the local area.
You will leave inspired with many new skills in your repertoire and all of the day’s recipes so you can recreate the dishes back home.
Gourmet Akaroa classes run on demand when there is availability from Monday to Friday. Classes generally run from 10am – 2pm however timings can be adjusted to suit your group.
Each class includes tea / coffee and freshly made pastries on arrival, tuition (either hands on or demonstration – up to you), three course lunch and matching wines.
There is a growing awareness of the importance of eating well. With the rapid rise of fast foods and processed foods over the past 50 years many people have forgotten or never learned how to cook proper healthy meals.

We share our passion for cooking using the best ingredients possible and show you that cooking doesn’t have to be a chore but can be rewarding and a lot of fun.

Additionally we highlight how easy and economical it can be to grow your own produce and emphasise the importance of eating together. Ultimately we want to bring ‘real’ food back into everyday life.
