Join Momo Yoshida, the founder of Momo Tea, on a journey into the world of Japanese tea. In this fun, hands-on workshop you will get to discover and savor the beauty and variety of Japanese teas.
Momo will introduce you to a wide array of Japanese tea, including Sencha, Hojicha, Genmaicha, Gyokuro, and Matcha.
There will be ample opportunity to examine the particular characteristics and different flavor profiles based on growing regions, while Momo gives a tea brewing demonstration, sharing tips for making the perfect cup of tea at home.
You will also look into the art of “pairing” tea with food and utensils in the tradition of a Japanese Afternoon Tea. Food will be served on a special 3 Tier cake tray made by local potter Secret Teatime.
Momo will present various sweets and few evening snacks such as tea-flavored rice, scones, daifuku, macarons, and more.
As a finale, you will get a taste of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. After getting a hands-on experience on whisking a bowl of matcha, you will savor an exquisite cup of ceremonial grade Matcha paired with traditional sweets. It will be an unforgettable journey for all tea lovers
The Dep is a unique food venue that hosts an eclectic range of food events.
Founded in 2011 by Len Senater, The Dep is an ongoing, evolving experiment, prototype and proof-of-concept exploring food’s role in building community, creating opportunity and celebrating diversity. It has evolved over the years into a kind of convivial urban food hub where food producers, creators and consumers can connect and explore new food ideas in a fun, informal setting.
To find out more about The Dep, you can check out what others have written (like Spacing Magazine or Yonge Street Media), read some customer reviews (4.6 out of 5 stars!), or dig into my own slightly ranty manifesto.
In early 2016, the Dep extended an invitation to newly-arrived Syrian refugees who found themselves stuck in hotels for many weeks, with no access to kitchens to cook for themselves or their families.
This blossomed into the wildly successful Newcomer Kitchen, a non-profit social enterprise that invites newcomer women to prepare and sell meals in a fun, social setting, while earning revenue through dignified, meaningful work.
A workshop that balances theory and practice, giving you the opportunity to share with other enthusiasts. The content evolves as it arrives, but you can expect comparative tastings and to experiment with at least one infusion technique.
This event is a lot of fun for the whole family or as a cute summer date idea. Learn how to make our best-selling drinks, or take our challenge and create your own recipe with anything you like!
