Our American Jazz classes run following the NZAMD Jazz syllabus and teach the basic fundamentals of Jazz while encouraging our students to explore their own sense of style! Our 6-7 year olds work on a pre-grade syllabus, while the NZAMD syllabus starts between 7-9 years old (Grade 1) ,
When exams are finished, we dedicate our time to choreographing and polishing a dance for our end of year production.
At Danzworx we believe in encouraging everybody to “dance like nobody is watching”
This core principle encourages students to:
Gain Confidence
Increase fitness
Increase body awareness
Achieve a positive and confident attitude in all areas of life through movement and music.
We are inclusive and supportive and believe that our teachers and students work together to create a class environment of security and fun.
Our classes focus on developing a strong Jazz technique where students are expected to have a basic knowledge of dance and a willingness to learn in a low-pressure environment. We do not at this stage study an exam syllabus.Â
These classes will cover technique, performance presentation & introduce steps outside the exam syllabi. Different styles are taught in the class routines.
Students learn a wide range of steps and combinations and get to learn many different styles of jazz.
This class teaches students basic jazz techniques such as turns, leaps and jumps whilst combining musicality, stamina and control within the grade progressions. Exams are offered in this subject progressing from junior/beginner level through to teaching qualifications and diplomas.
The students will learn NZAMD American Jazz syllabus work and work towards an examination in September
