Jazz is a continually changing and ever evolving genre encompassing many styles such as Broadway, musical theatre, hip hop, funk and lyrical to name a few. ATOD have a new and innovated syllabus which encompasses all styles from foundation jazz to the latest moves.
Classes incorporate warmup and stretches, floor and corner work, turns, kicks and jumps, historical steps, combinations, progressions and dances.
This fun syllabus is designed to technically develop students, build strength, energy and attack, whether on a recreational or advanced level.

Traditionally an extension of ballet, jazz used to be known as “modern ballet”.
From age five, this syllabus progresses to teach dancers a wide variety of jazz styles to popular music.
We combine genres in order to explore different methods of creative expression. styles are tailored to suit the unique needs and energy of each class. focus on fun and character building. open age, non-graded, non-auditioned.
We offer the British Ballet Organisation syllabus for ballet students and the New Zealand Association of Modern Dance for jazz students.
The Chilton Dance Centre training in Modern Jazz is based on the New Zealand Association of Modern Dance (NZAMD) syllabus.
