Jazz dance is very stylish and allows full expression of individual personalities. With its leaps, turns and isolations it is highly energetic, dynamic and heaps of fun. We use the International Dance Teachers' Association syllabus
In our small classes, all students receive focused and personalised tuition, ensuring each dancer is supported to reach their potential. All dancers are encouraged to achieve excellence, using positive teaching methods to achieve great results.
We pride ourselves on the quality and high standard of teaching we have to offer, resulting in sold out shows and high exam grades. Our comprehensive dance programme includes classical ballet, modern jazz, acrobatic dance (acro), lyrical contemporary, theatre craft, Progressive Ballet Technique, and stretch & conditioning.
This has been carefully developed to train well-rounded dancers, with skills and experience to go on to exciting futures.
We offer classes for all ages from Pre-Rosette 1 - Solo Seal in American Jazz dance. We teach the New Zealand Association of Modern Dance syllabus.
ATt AMJAZZ we offer the American Jazz Dance Affiliation (AJDA) syllabus from Intro 1 to Advanced Solo-Seal. Both male and female dancers can enrol from the age of 6 years. Adult classes for beginners or adults returning to dance are also available
From age five, this syllabus progresses to teach dancers a wide variety of jazz styles to popular music.
Second to Ballet Jazz is one of the longest standing styles (non traditional/national) of dance, with its roots beginning in America. It is one of the most versatile and common styles of dance often seen in Musicals.
Our popular Jazz sessions are fast-paced, busy classes which work on many of the principles of dance including pointing, line-work and crossing the midline (at a junior level) and flexibility, leaps and turns (at a senior level).
