Students work towards an optional jazz medal test or exam and an end-of-year performance.
Our age levels are designed to fit with NZ school year age groups. Students in Year 1 (turning 5 before Term 3 as a general rule) are in the Jazz Pre-Primary (Junior 1) level. This is a 30 minute class.

Your dancer will make new friends in our Wellington Dance preschool, junior, grades or senior schools. As they progress through their own special dance journey, our team will suggest inspiring ways for them to develop their confidence and skills, such as performing on stage, team-building social events, trying new styles of dance or joining a dance team.
Our dream is for every student to experience performing a beautiful graduation solo to mark their achievement at the end of their school years!

The Dance Institute offers all RAD Ballet grades from Pre-Primary to Advanced, all NZAMD Jazz and Contemporary Levels and all SADTA Modern dance Levels as well as specialised Stretch and Strengthen classes.
Jazz is the most popular form of dance in our studio it helps with flexibility, technique and versatility.
Our popular Jazz sessions are fast-paced, busy classes which work on many of the principles of dance including pointing, line-work and crossing the midline (at a junior level) and flexibility, leaps and turns (at a senior level).
Students learn a wide range of steps and combinations and get to learn many different styles of jazz.
