This program is designed to provide all shore-based managers, related government agencies and other occasional visitors to offshore drilling and production units with an understanding of the hazards, equipment, and procedures required for effective emergency response to installation and helicopter emergencies.
This program applies to all visitors to an offshore installation who have not completed a course in Basic Survival Training (BST), and who will not spend more than seven (7) days offshore during a 12-month period.
Program Content
Hazards associated with offshore (oil industry) operations
Personal safety equipment and survival equipment
Sea survival theory and practice
Emergency response for vessels and installations
Abandonment procedures
Signalling and Search and Rescue review
Helicopter hazards and emergency procedures including HUET
Helicopter Underwater Breathing Apparatus (HUEBA)
Practical training exercises will include:
Helicopter underwater escape training using the Underwater Egress Training Simulators (UETS)
HUEBA familiarization
Lifeboat familiarization
Prerequisite
Trainees are expected to be in a good state of health and physically capable of fully taking part in all program activities. Trainees are expected to participate in all physical training requirements.
A valid Medical Certificate is required to be submitted prior to start of course.
A valid Government Identification is required and must be presented for registration and to the instructor on the first day of course commencement. (Driver’s License, Passport, Vantage card)
Certification
All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive:
A Survival Systems Training certificate for Offshore Survival Introduction with EBS, valid for one (1) year.
A laminated picture identification card.
