Course Details

The versatility of the piano makes it one of the most popular musical instruments.  We use the piano in many different genres of music; classical, jazz, blues, traditional, contemporary and so on.  We can use it for solo or ensemble performances, composing or accompanying other instruments.

 

At Encore School of Music, we can teach you how to:

  • Play different genres of music on the piano from Mozart to the Beatles
  • Play chords so you can easily play some contemporary songs
  • Train your ear so you can recognise notes, intervals, patterns and so on
  • Sight read so that you can read and perform a piece of music on the piano that you had never seen before
  • Play with expression so you can use the piano as a tool to express your emotions and thoughts
  • Use appropriate fingering so muscle memory can assist you in playing a song
  • Understand music theory to develop your musicianship

She began singing at age 10, and completed her grade 8 Trinity college exam by the time she finished secondary school. She took performance and choir opportunities where she could and also picked up the piano to support her singing development during those years.
