After an appropriate amount of Ballet is studied, dancers may begin training “en pointe”. Dancing in toe shoes requires strength and correct body alignment. Dancers must be at least 12 years of age and have instructor’s approval.

Dancers must also attend ballet class in addition to their pointe class. Pointe class runs for 2 terms, October thru to end of March. There is no year-end performance. Classes will hold a viewing day allowing parents to view progress.

The Ballet Program strives to develop each dancer’s confidence, poise, motivation and self-discipline. The Program is unique in that it also includes intensive studies in modern, contemporary and contemporary-ballet as well as opportunities to train in the Academy's other diverse disciplines.
Our ballet program is based on a combination of methods and syllabi, including the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus. The curriculum is developmentally sound, and adaptable to various levels of ability.
Shelley Shearer School of Dance is proud to deliver the highest quality Ballet program to everyone. Every student’s year culminates in the annual performances in June at the Winnipeg Centennial Concert Hall where everyone becomes a star. We’ll see you on stage!
The development of basic to advanced technique as the foundation of all dance with emphasis on dramatic expression through barre exercise and stretches for flexibility, strength, control, balance, poise, and grace.
It includes all main aspects that will help you to become a performing dancer. We will start with ballet barre and stretching, then will transfer to jumps and turns.
