Who Needs to do Emergency First Aid at Work? (EFAW)?

Every business needs to carry out a first aid risk assessment as part of their usual health and safety activities. The risk assessment should identify what level of first aid is required.

For example is a very low risk environment it may be suitable to train staff with first aid awareness, however as the number of employees or risk increases consideration needs to be made for the number of Emergency First Aid (EFAW) trained staff and the number of First Aid at Work (FAW) trained staff. Staff may also need to be trained in paediatric first aid especially if they work in an environment such as a school or nursery.
